We are in Faenza, in the province of Ravenna, with our customers and friends Nico and Sauro Ugolini, owners of Aziende Agricole Ugolini.
We are talking about a business founded in the early 1970s by Nico and Sauro's father, Tarcisio, joined by the two brothers in the late 1980s.
The company currently counts about a hundred hectares of cultivated land, divided as follows: 60 hectares of kiwis, 30 of apricots and 10 of plums.
In addition to cultivating orchards, since 2014 Nico and Sauro have also successfully marketed their products, creating a warehouse in 2016 that is constantly expanding.
Our meeting takes place inside a system of medium-late Lady Cot variety apricot trees.
The system features a distance of 5 metres between rows, a distance of 1.5 metres between plants, a height of 5 metres for the posts and a spacing of 9 metres between posts along the row.
The system, built entirely with Valente materials, is equipped with V-Protect Hail covering. Originally, this and other systems we created did not provide coverage, but, as Nico explains, to feel more secure about 10 years ago we began covering the orchards with anti-hail nets, going from the initial zero hectares to the current 40 hectares covered.
This trend is only going to continue in the near future, always relying on our company because, as Nico tells us: ‘Since we got to know Valente, it has always been our choice because we consider it a reliable and efficient company.’
