We are in Tortona, in the province of Alessandria, inside this apple orchard of about 5 hectares at the De Giorgi farm, in the company of our customer and friend Andrea Aiachini.
The first part of the orchard was planted in 2021, then expanded in 2022 and completed in 2025, a few months ago.
Here we find two varieties of late-season apples: Cripps Red, marketed under the Joya brand, and Cripps Pink, marketed under the Pink Lady brand.
In the orchard planted in 2021, the trees are spindle-trained, while the following orchards are planted with Bibaum-trained apple trees, therefore double-stemmed, and are equipped with hail protection using Konnet netting, which involves the use of two half-nets joined at the ridge using special plates.
All orchards have the following planting density: 3 meters between rows, 10 meters between posts along the row, and 1.10 meters between trees.
The relationship with our company began in 2021, as mentioned, and continues today and then again in the future.
Andrea decided to turn to us because “they guarantee me reliable structures that hold up, are certified for structural loads of wind and hail resistance.”
In support for this decision, Andrea shared his memory of a hailstorm that occurred in May 2022, which had a significant impact on the area. The system really protected the plants that had only been planted a year earlier, so he felt that his investment had paid off and was totally satisfied with the result.
