We are in San Martino Buon Albergo, in the province of Verona, together with Bruno Migliorini, owner of a fruit-growing business with around 20 hectares of apple orchard and 2 hectares of kiwi, both protected by Valente covers.
We are inside an anti-hail installation where the nets, after around 25 years of service, have been replaced with the new Konnet system, chosen for its greater ease of installation and reduced labour requirements.
The advantage becomes especially clear during replacement operations. With traditional nets, it would have been necessary to work on the entire structure — loosening the cables, unscrewing the caps — and effectively rebuilding it almost from scratch. With the Konnet system, instead, the existing structure stays intact: the nets are simply repositioned and replaced, with a considerable saving of time and effort.
These benefits are complemented by greater wind resistance and a longer net life along the ridge wire — always one of the most critical points of the installation — which with this solution achieves a markedly longer lifespan.
An experience that Bruno Migliorini himself wholeheartedly recommends to other growers: faster, simpler installation with reduced labour costs.
