This month, we’re bringing you an interview with Antonio Carneiro, owner of ProPomar, our new distributor in Portugal. The partnership between ProPomar and Valente only began a few months ago but, considering how excited we are about the excellent results already achieved, we’ve decided to tell you the story.
When was your company founded? Can you give us a brief history?
ProPomar is a very young company, established only in 2015. In 2011, almost by chance, I began installing a 4 HA system for a kiwi fruit plantation with the help of my two co-workers, Vitor Araujo and Marco Boco, who provided me with technical support. The year after, in 2012, I had the chance to help a friend build and manage an orchard. I think I did a pretty good job, considering that, in 2013, I went on to complete another installation for an acquaintance. From then on, my business has grown from strength to strength. In 2017, I began an important partnership with Valente with the aim of working together in order to improve Portuguese agriculture in terms of productivity and quality.
How big is your company? What sector do you work in?
At the moment, we have 12 employees, who are the driving force and heart of ProPomar! We grow many different varieties of kiwi fruit on our land; we also offer comprehensive and professional installation, management and maintenance services for orchards, such as pruning and harvesting.
How did you find out about Valente?
I've known about your company for a long time, but then again, who hasn’t heard of Valente? I think I probably heard about you for the first time from Marco Bovo.
Why did you choose Valente?
There are lots of reasons why I decided to establish a partnership with you. When I started looking for a partner who could provide me with materials and support for our installations, I wanted to differentiate from the competition, focusing on the quality of my services. Some friends had told me about Valente and after some initial contact with your export manager, Cristian Ferrari, I was left with no doubt: Valente was the answer to my needs in terms of professionalism, quality and reliability.
What do you purchase from Valente? What are your requirements?
We're buying all types of materials necessary for kiwi fruit installations, which is our largest market, meaning the range of covers and related accessories. Our aim is to improve Portuguese agriculture.
What are Valente’s strong points?
First and foremost, the Valente team; then the quality and innovation of your materials and technical systems.
